Parted out a Fully Functional Laguna's ! Unbelievable... I found the previous auction where he got a pretty good price for them though (803A's).

The sad reality is that the components are much more saleable and shippable than the assembled speaker systems. That pair of 802's will bring more than you could get for the complete Lagunas in my neck of the woods.

To remain whole, they need to find a person who has not only the means and real estate for them, but also the ability to love them as they are. Otherwise, they still end up parted or modified beyond an easy return to original.

FWIW, i've never heard much whining about folks stuffing a modern powertrain in a '32 Ford.

True, but there are probably more original surviving Fords of any given year than there are Lagunas. And where Lagunas are very useable, ever tried to do the freeway in an early '30's Ford?
Your neighbors called. They like your music.

Can't argue with either point OG, they're both good ones.

Sadly, a lot of good old speakers are like stray dogs at the pound. We can each take good care of a few. But, all of us together can't save em all.

No ! But these particular models should be saved with some effort ! (Uber Rare) . Now you mean to tell me he couldn't have sold it whole ? I put a couple C-notes on the fact that if he listed it complete. It still would have sold quick. So it's not like he wouldn't have been able to sell it. (Just Greed).Personally I think he would have made more money if he did.

What bothers me is I've been looking for a pair for a longtime (Although I think this was a single) and if the price is resonable enough I would have drove there to Capture them from Destruction ! In a 32 ford, with a trailer. But only if they were posted whole first would I have had the opportunity.

Re: Another one bites the dust

I talked to the owner and the speakers were not Altec Lagunas -- so don't feel too bad, guys. I will try to attach pictures for posterity.

Here are the dimensions: 29" deep by 18" wide by 54" high.

OK Thanks David ! But that raises another question. Why post that in your Auction if they weren't in fact in a real pair of Laguna's ?

Maybe another clue-less seller who didn't know what he had? If so, hopefully David "set him straight"......

Re: Another one bites the dust

The owner told me that he Googled "2 x 15" woofer Altec" and the Laguna name popped-up -- so that's what he put in his ebay ad. It's a shame that they aren't the real deal because I have spare "innards" and the cabs are an easy drive from me.

BTW, he is asking $50 for them if anybody is interested. Located in St. Mtn. GA.
